How to Setup and Use wxLyrics Today wxLyrics is a lightweight, open-source desktop application that fetches, synchronizes, and displays scrolling music lyrics on your screen in real time. Designed to integrate cleanly with popular media players (such as Spotify, iTunes, or local players), it uses the cross-platform wxWidgets framework to provide a clean, distraction-free overlay.
Setting up wxLyrics takes less than ten minutes and transforms how you experience your digital music library. Step 1: Download the Software
Navigate to the official release page on the wxLyrics GitHub Project Repository.
Download the installer or archive package compatible with your operating system (Windows, macOS, or Linux).
Extract the downloaded folder or run the installation executable. Step 2: Configure Your Music Player Link
wxLyrics relies on system protocols like MPRIS on Linux or media APIs on Windows/macOS to detect what you are listening to.
Launch your preferred music application (e.g., Spotify, Apple Music, or Foobar2000). Open wxLyrics. Go to Settings > Player Integration.
Select your active media player from the dropdown menu and click Connect. Step 3: Set Up Lyrics Sources
By default, the application will scrape the web to track down matching .lrc or plain-text files.
In the Settings window, navigate to the Lyrics Providers tab.
Check the boxes next to the automated scrapers you want to use (such as NetEase, QQMusic, or Genius).
Drag and drop your preferred provider to the top of the list to prioritize its database. Step 1: Choose Your Overlay Style
Desktop Mode: Places a transparent, click-through scrolling canvas directly onto your wallpaper.
Windowed Mode: Keeps the lyrics inside a dedicated, resizable panel that you can snap to the side of your monitor. Step 2: Customize Visuals & Layout
